Yes, you should consult a solicitor for advice. Even
better after you have gotten hold of some evidence as I suggested, then the
lawyer has more substance to work from. If you avoid the big city firms and the
case involves writing letters and does not go to the courts, it shouldn't cost
too much. Anyway, get an estimate from the lawyer before giving authorization to
proceed with any work (not just how much per hour, but the total cost). They are
obliged to provide clients with an estimate BEFORE the job. If you look in the
yellow pages, there are solicitors specializing in employment matters. From
my experience, most will give you a free 20 minute initial consultation. Also,
if you're an independent contractor, there's a good chance that your legal fees
are tax deductible.
