I'm now using DWMX on my new laptop, and i have to say, i'm starting to get used to it again.. mind you i'm in the honeymoon stage of it all, so no doubt 2 wks from now i'll be bitching away.
As for application messing ups? pft, ignorant wretch :D sif CFSTUDIO will impact on your application. Its just a text editor with bells and whistles. Oh and i've been given the task in using Contribute... I do admit, that these applications are great for static / semi-static sites.
