Another case of - it disappeared yesterday ;> Appologies if anybody gets
this twice.

And the angels did sing and LUSERS did fall from flights of fantasy mid
quack. The words of wisdom had been revealed and all revelled in their
light!

and etc.

Basically this is one of my pet peeves. When writing RIA's the first
question that should be asked is 'does this crap add anything to my site?'

Will having 82 videos that take two hours to load and 413 layers of
centralised tree structure navigation chains bring more customers to your
site then it pisses off into leaving and going to find somebodies site that
just bloody loads?

I've seen some TRULY awesome RIA's out there. I wonder how many of them put
through as much traffic as microsoft or google... Or make as many sales as
Amazon or Ebay?

RIA's are a great idea. But its a new sort of spoke in the wheel, its not a
whole new fucking wheel. Trying to use it to reinvent the wheel and do
things that existing methodology already does better is just annoying.

People basically like the internet. Thats why so damn many of them use it.
If it was broken? Well join the dots. There wouldn't be nearly as many of us
employed.

Since it aint broken, it dun need to be pulled apart and fixed. The
structure in place is basically good and viable. WWW style successes aren't
achieved by something that isn't right. What might be good for it thought,
is a tune up, some new tools to tweak it a bit.

Light weight, additions, extra functionality, increased interactivity, new
tools, not a whole new wheel.

The site listed? Its sexy, sure. Would I use it? hell no. Its too painfully
slow, and I'm sitting on a 100mb pipe thats not all that loaded, and I've
written half of this rant since opening it again to nitpick some specifics.

stuffit, I'm over it, whatever's on that page? I don't care. As a user, I
want it up, I wan't it now, I wan't it to work first time and every time. I
don't want to sit waiting for an application to load.... Ahh finally.. Its
loaded, was it worth the wait? not really..

There's alot of stuff on that page, but none of it is particularly
interesting. Most of it looks suspiciously like stuff thats in HTML on the
MSN home page, or a hundred other shonky portals, that load in a 10th of the
time, and while they don't look quite as nice? aren't overtly annoying.

There's nothing on that page that would convince me to use it again, or
spend any money there. There are lots of things that would convince me to go
elsewhere. Whats justifiying the money that went into developing it? Apart
from pointless nefarious narcissistic ego feeding.
