If you are prepared to learn a little more than just HTML <table> syntax, and are familiar with XML - why not create an XML spreadsheet??

This can also take styles, and..... AND..... multiple sheets!!

You do the same thing.  Create the XML as you normall would (according to a specific format - of course) and just say the filename ends in XLS - and Excel will happily read it and realise it is in XML format and then load it in.

Also - for those that didnt realise - you can put formulas in the <table> version (by using the @function syntax) and they will work.

To do the same thing with the XML format you put the formulas into the <CELL> tag.

Anyone can look at a same of this format (in Excel 2000/XP at least) by using the Save As XML option.

I think there may be a little project over the weekend creating some CFMX tags that can support this.  Will eventually post these somewhere.  Think I will get myself a BLOG this weekend.
