It (as it's the only one so far) does sit in it's own directory but not with an application.cfm. There didn't seem a need for one. We've set up the intranet so that it grabs logon info from our network when the user logs on to their pc rather than forcing people to physically login to the intranet seperately, so security like that shouldn't be an issue.
I just tried running the page from my pc as a normal page on the intranet by typing the path into the address bar and it worked fine. That's why it's so tricky. It won't run from the scheduled tasks list on the server. Or ou may have the URL wrong - try calling the URL from your PC.. and see what happens.
