Unbelievable!

Thanks for the encouraging words however.

Wish I knew about the RIA comp sooner ;)

Hi Peter and all Canberrans,

This deserves some sort of respose. For a start it's not a Macromedia vs
Allaire issue :-) Remember that both John and myself are originally from
Allaire. It's basically comes down to the audiences we get for this
sort of event.

Keeping in mind that we're a pretty small team here we try to cover as many
cities as possible in each tour while at the same time trying to minimise
the number of divorces and cases of children not recognising their parents
within the team . For the last few years (including the MX launch) Canberra
have been included in the first round of the tour, while cities like Perth
and Auckland have been covered in a second tour several months later. This
was despite the fact that the audiences in these cities were usually 2-3
times the size of the Canberra audience. Yesterday was the first time Perth
were included in the first round tour - we felt we owed it to them with all
the great stuff going on over there (e.g. the BOCs ticketing RIA, lots of CF
in government).

As for Canberra, at least there was a launch event within a three hour drive
(many from Canberra, Newcastle and Woolongong attended the Sydney event, I
spoke to one guy who drove down from Orange). We'll repeat the content in
Canberra sometime over the next few months, preferably at a user group
meeting.

This isn't to say we're forgetting about Canberra, it's just that we think
there are more effective ways to communicate with our customers there than
big launch events. Personally I've already been in Canberra twice in the
last few weeks presenting to departments and working with our resellers and
partners - which seems to work well. To get to the general developer
community I'd rather work with you (thanks for taking on the CFUG BTW!) and
Emma to continue building up the user groups and getting the message, skills
and community links out there. Now, off to the airport for the Brisvegas
launch :-)

Cheers,
