Many modern motherboards have little 'buzzer' units actually on the motherboard, instead of the larger speaker that used to be connected to the motherboard from the case. But as I said, this is only going to go beep when you start up the PC. You must have speakers on you PC somewhere. What brand of PC do you have? I'm assuming that you don't have 2 separate speaker boxes connected to your PC case by wires. Does your monitor have speakers attached or built into it? Does your PC case have speakers built into it? 2 little speakers in one of the drive bays maybe? Look at the back of your Pc and see if you can find a sound card, or motherboard connections for audio. typically 3 small round 'headphone' type sockets. If it was on a knob on the speakers, then follow the wire that will come out of the speaker and pull it out of the PC. There will be another section in your control panel (I have XP here, not 2000, so I can't tell you the exact place to go) that controls the volume of all the various sound outputs, from a single screen. There will be a series of vertical sliders, with the leftmost being the master volume control. There will be a checkbox under that for muting all sound.
