This I would imagine has more to do with the cfmx runtime package written by macromedia and not a limitation of java itself. Blue dragon has managed to write a java cf implementation that can do just that - run java code, packaged as war files, on any platform, without the need for the cf engine. Java has always been designed with the exception of some JNI classes to be run on any platform. The java 'write once, run anywhere' motto is true except for a very few exceptions. > So - has anyone got any examples of how it would be possible to do such a > thing as was requested =3F RMI / EJB would be the way to go in this instance. Creating remote paths is fraught with peril - portability is the first thing that disappears. That said it would really depend on how the third party API was written as to whether it would be possible to use RMI or EJB. RMI would be the easiest. A good rmi eaxample is below -: http://www.edm2.com/0601/rmi1.html hth Rod --- You are currently subscribed to cfaussie as: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe send a blank email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] MXDU2004 + Macromedia DevCon AsiaPac + Sydney, Australia http://www.mxdu.com/ + 24-25 February, 2004 --- You are currently subscribed to cfaussie as: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe send a blank email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] MXDU2004 + Macromedia DevCon AsiaPac + Sydney, Australia http://www.mxdu.com/ + 24-25 February, 2004
