Sure you can - Thawte currently have them for $US 200 for a year. However I am pretty sure that you can generate your own certificates for free & use those. The only difference in theory is that you don't have BigTrustedCo saying "yes - we've double checked & this is Taco Fleur". The difference in practice is that users are asked whether they trust you (via a dialogue box) rather than just accepting the cert seamlessly. (Vik? Someone? The above is NOT an option, no one in their right mind would use it either, unless the site is intended for people who know what that ugly and scary error message really means. OK, your site has SSL, do all your clients have SSL? If not, is the process used secure enough? Or you just don;t care then because they are not using SSL? ---------------------------- Seriously mate you could go work at McDonalds for a month or so & buy a certificate. It would be a much more effective use of your time in terms of providing "security" than trying to create your own method. Again no offence intended, that is my honest opinion. ---------------------------- I have about 12 sites, none should be related, 12 X 200 = 2.400 US a year, 3.100 AUSD... Mmmm, I don't know why you don't see the use of trying to work on a more secure process that can be used by any website that can't afford SSL?
