Just wondering for those who have their own. What are the key things
I need?, do most people write there own simple blogs? or get a
pre-writen one. What blogs currently exist for CFAUSSIE users?

Blogs are less about the software and more about the content. If you want a blogging tool there are plenty available. We use MoveableType (http://www.moveabletype.org/) for the Daemonite blog (http://blog.daemon.com.au/) for historical reasons. However, there are a series of good blooging tools written in CFMX (Ray Camden's, the one on the MM DRK, and another realy good one written by an italian bloke who's name escapes me).

I also think TypePad (from the makers of MoveableType) is a beautiful application -- http://www.typepad.com/. I have Ars Aura (http://daemon.typepad.com/arsaura) hosted there. Plus I'll likely be blogging picture galleries for MXDU to that location as well.

If I was to write my own, what sort of key features are in a blog?
are they all xml driven? or can they by SQL database?

All sorts; XML, flat file database driven.

Also. what does 'blog' stand for? are they used mainly for
communication within a group of developers? or for everyone? there
must be hundreds of them about the place.

Blog is an abbreviation of Web Log.

Sometimes I visit http://www.fullasagoog.com and www.markme.com and
check out the multi channel blog listings. What do you do to become
apart of a system like those, are there any other multiblog websites
like this? for maybe Australian Sites?

Fullasagoog.com is an Australian site. Most Americans still have a hard time understanding what it means :) MXNA (the Macromedia equivalent at markme.com) is actually a spawn of the Goog code which I licensed to MM for DRK3.
