I sat the CFMX certification exam. It does have an effect on prospective employers. And really how much time will you be investing? I studied for the exam the night before and took a few cfbuster practice exams and thats it. For anyone using CFMX day in day out as I have for the last year and CF for the previous 5 years the exam is not that hard. If you are new to CF I wouldn't sit it till you have used the product for at least a year extensively as the exam covers quite a lot of assumed knowledge. The exam cost is tax deductible (as is buying the study guide). So really what do you have to lose? If the certification helps just once in getting that dream job it has to be worth it. But that is just my opinion.
