Sean,

It certainly is a spiffy product if I say so myself!

The product has been released for several months now, we've already shipped an updater and shortly will ship a second updater.

Several Australia companies are playing with the technology and even better a few Australian companies have started real projects.

You will here more on that as these projects get delivered, but we are happy with progress so far.

The best community list to join is www.flexcoders.org for third party Flex opinion, insight and support.

Then there is all the Macromedia resources at http://www.macromedia.com/flex/

I'm happy to give you access to the software, drop me a line off list giving me a few more details about your interest.

best
Mark

Not only have people been playing with Flex here in Australia, there
are development teams with Flex projects underway right now.

Just a quickie - Has anybody played with Flex? Is it as spiffy as it
looks in the Demo's? Does it in fact do useful things? Does anybody
know where I can download the demo to play with it?

Having been out of touch for a while when one of our product guys
asked if anybody had played with Flex I went 'WTF?' and went and
looked at the demo's and it looks spiffy as hell and I want to play
with it - but (possibly due to the whole I'm an idiot thing) I can't
find anywhere to download the beta? I found a buy a CD and have it
mailed to you link - but I have moral objections to paying for a beta
product at the best of times - especially when I then have to a) pay
for it b) wait for the damn thing to show up.

Once you try it out you should see that the postage and handling charge that Macromedia make for the Flex beta is well worth it, and as Geoff said if you're a DevNet subscriber you can download the trail edition directly. The trial edition reverts to developer edition after 60 days.

Anybody know where I can get hold of it?

Cheers
