Its not censorship, its insurance. If an employer is not seen to be taking these tough measures, including dismissals for breaches, and Walter the overly sensitive office temp (not his real name) happens to be walking past your desk as you're reading an offensive cfaussie post or, heaven forbid, you were to forward the offensive email to him, the employer would be responsible for the psychological trauma that poor innocent Walter was subjected to, and would undoubtable have to contribute in a fairly hefty way to Walters 'immediate retirement fund'. Buying some filter software, and putting some severed heads on posts, is the cheaper option.
