Hello Gavin,
Don't send messages to the list from within gmai. It will bounce as spam. Set up another e-mail account on your client and redirect your gmail to it (in the settings) and then send messages from your <user>@gmail.com> address through your isp from your e-mail client. (ie not through gmail's smtp)
