Fred Flex needs to run on a Java server, JRun, Tomcat, Web Sphere etc.
I can't really see why a Flex application shouldn't be able to make calls to either version of CF via Flash Remoting. You can download a trial version of Flex that can be tested either on a bundled version of JRun or on a Java server of your own preference. I'm running developer editions of CF & Flex on the developer edition of JRun on Mac OS without any dramas.
