You can use remoting with both version(s) standard/enterprise. Its
integrating the two is the no no, in that if you wanted to use
CFIMPORT to bringin the flex-bootstrap.jar (or whatever the jar file
was) then it can be done only with Enterprise.

Why would you do this?

Well if you're data is dynamic (daily) and you don't want the expense
of writing a remoting call (webservice, remote object, xml etc) at run
time, you can store your data inside your SWF before its handed back
to the client via a typica CFOUTPUT iteration routine.

Stuff like that it can pay off in terms of latency/speed.

Either reason(s) is up to you but i wanted it because it would be
"cool" thing to do and test.

As for Tilbrooks comment, i tell you what peter, you walk into a
meeting and pitch 8k for CFEnterprise + 15-29k for FLEX and sell them
not only on that, but not to wait another 6-8 months for these new
products to get enough bugfix traction and come back and tell me how
the victory was easy.

For a corporation / enterprise in many ways there is no real need for
Enterprise unless you are running multiple applications / large amount
of clients / need event gateways (ie the sports pack).

When we bought our server, all we were running was an intranet for
350+ people - which is an overkill for Enterprise (especially since
the intranet was off the shelf product made in CF5 Prof .....dont get
me started).

Point is, just because you own FLEX doesn't mean you need Enterprise
and vice versa. FLEX is just a HTML replacement ;)

We are in the process of upgrading since I have bigger plans for the
future ehehhehe.
