 -- haven't seen this mentioned yet... if you're comfortable w/ Java, take a
look at JMeter, which is a pure Java desktop application that can be
configured to run as many tests as the your client machine can handle (my
p1.8/256mb client ran up to 75 concurrent w/ no problems).  More information

 +1, JMeter is an installed (ie: non-hosted) program.. because it's Java it
can run from Linux, Windows and presumably Mac.
