Ken:
This
question is really better asked on a different list (CF-Talk, for instance) as
it is not on-topic here.
But, since this email is going to the list anyway, here are some thoughts on your question.... No matter
what answers you come up with here I would generally advise that you not worry
about this level of performance unless you need to squeeze every last ounce of
performance from your application. You will find the performance issues in
CFSCRIPT vs. CFML and XSLT vs. CFML to be miniscule compared to database design,
application architecture, page/content caching, and hardware/network
tuning.
Even in CF5,
CFSCRIPT performance improvements were minor, at best. My understanding is
that in CFMX those differences are even smaller.
Someone with
more expertise will hopefully give you insight into the XSLT question, but
either way it will depend a lot on what you are going to do via CFML. In
general, the XSLT will likely be faster, but the extent of the performance boost
will probably be negligible for most operations.
Of
course, some who are more purist about performance will no doubt disagree
;)
