Certainly in some contexts step debuggers are useless, but I wouldn't say they are useless in all large scale development projects.

That's why I said "I've generally found" - in the work I've done - rather than make a blanket claim that they are useless in *all* (your word) LS dev... I'm sure there are people who live and die by step debuggers!
