It is interesting that you bring up assertions. As part of Java 1.4, assertions were added to the language allowing for greater robustness without the added burden of strong contracts i.e. the assertions are only used during development. Interestingly enough, BlueDragon 6.1 not only adds CFCs, but also has assertions in the form of a new tag cfassert and function assert(). For those interested in making use of assertions in their code without any additional overhead in production this new facility is quite useful.
