I got a recursive function working to generate a site map today based on an
example i found, (very cool how that works! many thanks go to Barney
Boisvert for the original idea), but i'm not sure i could have come up with
that on my own. Does anyone know of any good resources on recursive
functions? I'm still finding the concept hard to get my head around.

I'll be happy to provide any assistance you might want (offlist) - my PhD work was on Functional Languages (where there are no loops, only recursion).
The key thing in CF is to make sure you 'var' declare all your local variables!
