Unfortunately it's not a viable solution for the vast majority of sharedRunning the Developer Edition of the J2EE version allows you to have multiple, separate CF instances locally - which is a good solution for your development scenario. I regularly run multiple CF installs on my PowerBook for exactly that reason.

Agreed but the question was about *development* which folks can do locally. Deployment to shared hosts introduces all sorts of 'interesting' problems, not just for CFCs...
