HI.
So, you're parsing delimited files. Java is rather good at this, and on that note why not save yourself a few steps and use an ETL tool like mapforce from Altova to create the base data parsing / import code; which it can do in either java, c# etc...but it's java we're interested in here...
Think about it...you can use mapforce to generate the actual data parsing functions and then write another class to extend that class in order to provide the directory parsing and file existance functions...then again, you could write those classes in java as well...
There's hibernate as well...more tools to choose from...
Or you could write the sticky mess from scratch and not use any intermediary tools like mapforce...what ever 0ils yer tool mate...
It all rather raises the question as to why bother using CF at all! ...but then again I'm rapidly becoming a jaded [EMAIL PROTECTED]@rd...and look. there are any number of people at MM who are very clearly telling CF developers to learn Java...why? Simple...Java is the future of CF...so why wait for the trailing edge of the sythe when you could be on the bleeding edge?
