thanks, I already added it thanks to steve bryant also making the
suggestion. You can tell when legacy code is sitting around as our
file to do this has been around since about 2000.
since we don't want any replacement concerns you can turn on the third
parameter "overwrite" to no:
structappend(attributes, url,"no"); and it won't overwrite any
existing key-values.

thanks again for the tip.  I feel kinda silly that anyone had to point
