I agree with you Matt. Shoehorning the MachII XML into a DB would be a nightmare. Namely because the config is so flexible and the flow of an event is entirely based on the procedural-ness of the XML. You could "replicate" this flow using a dozen different tables, but it would be a logical *nightmare* and would immediately make MachII a "no-use" application since its so prohibitive to get started.
I get the feeling that Joseph feels attacked by all the recent negative comments re: CFSQLTool (especially coming from Corfield). And rightly so, no one wants to hear their baby get insulted. But still. /cody -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Matt Woodward Sent: Thursday, October 27, 2005 5:54 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [CFCDev] CFSQLTool debate On 10/27/05, Joseph Flanigan <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > I have never said how bad a design Mach was because I disagree with > the use of XML as poor excuse for something that should have been in a > database. You're saying the XML configuration file is a poor excuse for something that should have been in a database? Wow. Not to fuel a completely ancillary fire, but I seriously hope that you're joking. If not I'd love to hear the rationale behind this line of thinking. -- Matt Woodward [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.mattwoodward.com ---------------------------------------------------------- You are subscribed to cfcdev.
