I read all of the posts in response to Sean's comments below and must say I agree with Sean. We are a small company, very small that is, and have no problem shelling out 5k for enterprise. Its not an automatic due to having to obtain clients and what-not to build up to an additional 5k (new biz started in Aug) but we feel it is absolutely worth it.

I did the shared hosting, in our former biz, for the entire time (roughly 4) and with the new biz moved to the ded server. We love it. Of course its not as easy to manage but from a company perspective, paying $79/mo for unlimited sites to host is, as Sean said, "a really simple business equation." Of course small companies probably can't dish out 5k at the drop of a hat for software...we can't, yet, and I'm sure most can't. It becomes simple if you add up the costs. If your company depends on CF to "function" it will pay for itself in the first, or first few, sites you dev on it.

The obvious response is costs in maintenance of the server, cf, and everything else but if you set it up right you won't have to mess with it too often. Maybe you, or your company, should hire an "expert" to handle nothing but that or outsource it. Heck, most hosting companies will do it for you (small fee associated though...lol).

Without going on and on...I agree Sean and I am a small business owner.

Sure it is. You get what you pay for. If you care about your site
being up 24x7, you need to pay for that and get a dedicated server.

If your business depends on it, you should be using a dedicated
server. If you "save money" by using a shared host, then the cost may
well be lost clients.

I'm sorry, but this is a really simple business equation.

I mean, come on, how much is a dedicated server? How many clients can
you host on it (and resell the hosting fee yourself)? How much is your
reputation worth?
