Ray, I totally agree with you. OoO messages are as annoying as bounced
message notifications.

Other than Tom, who does use OoO messages? I quit using them years ago
because of issues with mailing lists such as this.

A long time back, I had a manager that used to be in charge of security
for a large corp. He said the worst thing you can do is let people know
you are out of the office, on vacation, or away from home.

His reasoning was that it lets nasty people know that your house is
probably ready to rob.

If I'm going on vacation for more than a couple of days, I let my
regular "customers" know in advance so they don't try to contact me.

I also check my mail, at least, once per day while I'm out. If I don't
feel like helping someone with a problem (I am on vacation after all),
then I let them know I will work on it when I get back.

I just deleted him. Hopefully that will stop the loop.

Let me say one more time - Out of Office messages are completely
useless. If you can't configure them to not respond to a listserv, then
don't use em!

(Sorry, I know no one agrees with me, but I had to rant.)
