Its a good book all round but the early chapters are just explanations of principles DRY, OCP, LSP, SRP, ISP, DIP, he also covers unit testing, agile, avoiding as much UML as possible :-) etc
The later chapters are a case study building a payroll app. It was Chapter 20 - Heuristics And Coffee that really made me think in a different way so if you don't have time and are fairly familiar with the above terms then just read Chapter 20.
