Hi my $0.02 as well. We email an HTML marked-up newsletter to about 85,000 monthly subscribers Its hell for our ISP Worldcom - they finally gave us a mailserver of our own, since we swamped them. Now we send out the newsletters in blocks of 500 at a time and nobody gets angry with us.
Of course you'll likely get a big return of undeliverables in your first run (15%) and half of the people who think you are spamming them will reply to your email, and the other half might use an automatic unsubcribe - just a hint - the unsubscribe page should be very friendly - there is a real opportunity for recovering those potential customers even after they unsubscribe. Managing big lists is an art form! A database with a Cold Fusion front end can be built and shared with LISTSERV/LSMTP. I have worked on such a project which had an ASP front end which we all would have done in Colf Fusion but nonetheless the basic architecture is identical... ========================================================= | David Mayerlen | Mayerlen Consulting Inc // The Canadian Speculator | [EMAIL PROTECTED] www.specstock.com | 905.833.7495 / 416-505-9470 (Cell) / 905-833-8350 (Fax) ========================================================= On Tue, 22 Jan 2002, Alan Goldberg wrote: > Hi, further to this thread: > Verp is usually used for lists of recipients.
