Hi Guys... Kevin Towes here... I would like to reply to this thread. The email that I sent Rudy was not intended as marketing hype. It was an honest response to a query requarding attendence of CFNorth. By no means was it ever meant as marketing - which is why it was ONLY posted to this listSRV. The organizers of CFUN 2002 (Teratech) in Maryland received a copy of this email and took it UPON THEMSELVES with absolutely no consultation or agreement from myself to lift this email and post it as a marketing email to their marketing list.
I have since had communciations with both Macromedia and the organizer of CFUN to address this very serious issue. CFUN has been informed to NOT continue posting emails, newsletters or any correspondance related to CFNorth. I, myself have no association with CFUN other then I am a speaker - I am not involved with their marketing campaigns, or the confernce organization. CFUN is similar to CFNorth - it is, like CFNorth, a regional event targeting developers in the Washington area and like CFNorth is a community-driven event not-for-profit. Their over-zelousness may have put them in a bit of luke warm water, but I have been formally apologized to and have their word that this will not happen again. PS - in the future, I would hope that the original poster of this thread would choose his/her words in the subject line with an ajusted strategy and a little more consideration for the target. I would be happy to close down CFUGToronto, and discontinue any support for the ColdFusion community in the Toronto area (including CFNorth) - I could use a break, anyway - I don't feel it is appropriate or respectful with personal hits like this one. Remember, I don't get paid for this, and in reguards to CFNorth - well, Bryon and I have paid a lot of money out-of-pocket (close to $10,000) to ensure a successful conference, and a successful support network for the Toronto area. I would suggest, that if you don't like the way things are run, you can bring it up to Macromedia, or just leave.
