Although, sometimes all the authors need is help. Andy Lester made me an
admin in the WWW::Mechanize RT bug queue recently. I was able to move
along about 25 tickets in one evening, mostly by resolving issues that
were non-issues or had already been fixed.
Perhaps the author would be open to a co-maintainer of some sort.
(Asking has certainly worked well for me. :)
