One of the many little changes we have been making lately with the build/release for Chandler is to bring up to date the list of supported platforms. I wanted to communicate to everyone what will be changing over the next couple of days.

Linux Platform
We will be using Ubuntu as the official build platform starting tomorrow (Friday June 9th 2006). What this means is that after the weekend all continuous builds and any new checkpoints will be built on Ubuntu. If you are currently running Chandler on older distributions, like FC4 or even FC2, you may have trouble. Our wonderful IT team have already updated alanui (full builds), maunaloa (quick builds), qalinux (p_linux) and the linuxdev1 server. After I fix some last minute issues on alanui I will be bumping the relver for all external projects and that will mark the official switch-over point.

Intel Mac
Thanks to a well-timed gcj patch and the CPU-stealing work by Andi, the builds on Intel Macs are going well. Once some of the build hardware changes have settled down I will be creating a Full and Quick tinderbox. When that happens I will be adding Intel Mac to the list of supported platforms.

Windows
Not much has changed here ;) - Vista is still way to much of an unknown to even consider, but recently Andi tested Chandler on Win2k and after solving some issues with wx, was able to run Chandler. That means that currently 0.7alpha2 or any continuous build may not work but the patch should be in the system by 0.7alpha3.

thanks,
