What I'm worried about is that the most discoverable way to open a
new window and the most discoverable way to edit an item in-place are
the same: d-click on the item.
My guess is that opening a new window is less common than editing an
item in-place. But if we make it a keyboard command, most users won't
discover it.
So I'm proposing that we add an icon to the mark-up instead + come up
with an alternate keyboard command to open items in new windows. (eg
triple click, ctrl-cmd-I, ctrl-cmd click, etc)
