I haven't actually read Usher's Passing before --- I think it's the only
McCammon I haven't read. I'll have to give it a try.

I have read quite a lot of McCammon, and cannot say
that I love everything he has written.

However "They Thirst" is one of my favourite vampire
stories ever. I love the way he manages to avoid most
of the cliches in it.

"Swan Song" is probably my favourite post-apocalyptic
novel; I can't recall any I liked better atm, though
"The Postman" is very good.

My favourite of his is "Usher's Passing", which is
truly excellent, and has quite a few frights in it. I
have read it 3 or 4 times; and when I bought it, I
didn't think a sequel to "The Fall of the House of
Usher" would be any good; I was just strapped for
something to read, and thought that as "Swan Song" and
"They Thirst" were so good it had to have some
redeeming features.

Morgan

PS: Anyone read "Lovers Living, Lovers Dead" by
Richard Lortz?
