There was discussion many years ago on the subject of gui.  The
decision was not to chase behind vb because that was an impossible
goal, but just provided adequate gui facility in J.  With the
infra-structure of wd driver, J was impossible to create any modern
look front-end that resemble vb6 or dotnet now.
