All right. I guess you guys are all right. That should be the focus then. I still like the idea of the .pkg installer with statically compiled binaries for the casual user or evaluator, let's say, some random web developer or blogger that doesn't want to install Xcode to have MacPorts up and running. This goes along the lines of what Alvaro has just said. Alvaro's point on automating the package building would be a huge win! If an statically compiled .pkg or disk image can be obtained from the port I guess that could be automatized but that would be requiring a Mac computer or server. Alvaro, when you're talking about automatization are you thinking in crosscompiling and bulding the .pkg from GNU/Linux? But for developers and power users I guess MacPorts is by far the best option, yes.
