thanks! that worked.

The only other problem i have now is.....it doesn't seem to be proxying
correctly but i'll figure that part ot eventually (getting a lot of bad
gateway errors, and the ports it picked aren't pointing at 3000)

do i need to do soemthing special with RoR when using cherokee?
