If you install the RoR app using the cherokee-admin wizard (most advisable), just make sure the user it is configured to run as has full permissions on your application's log/ and tmp/ directories, as otherwise it will silently (and frustratingly ;-) ) fail. FWIW, I'd suggest the FreeBSD Cherokee port should depend on or recommend spawn-fcgi, as it is needed for many of Cherokee's operation modes.
