"But what about driving down the street at 35mph and some idiot comming the
other way weaves into your lane? You swerve and hit a tree."
I learned this long ago.. I don't swerve.. You endanger yourself more when you try to
react and correct.. If the guy want's to hit me, and he is in the wrong lane, I'll
brace myself and slow down as
quickly and safely as possible.. If it were a deer, I'd slow as much as possible and
hit it square on. If you hit a tree it's your fault for not having control of your
car. if you are hit in your own
lane, it's the other persons fault, and if you hit a deer, and nothing else it's
considered an act of god.. Like I said, it's all a personal opinion, I don't knwo for
sure if it would help or not in
any situation, but since it's a 50-50 chance I'll stick too my half.. Also I notice
that I actually pay less attention to what I am doing when wearing a seatbelt, I guess
it's a "well I'm safe"
feeling where I can think about other things than the road. I'm not telling you to NOT
wear seatbelts.. So please don't force me to wear one. especially when data can prove
either point! of course
please don't think that you upset me.. or that I am mad at you because you want me to
wear a seatbelt.. I'm just stating the way I feel and expect you to do the same.. and
If you were too ever ride
with me I would expect you to wear your seatbelt..

But what about driving down the street at 35mph and some idiot comming the
other way weaves into your lane? You swerve and hit a tree. You saying
that a seatbelt is more likely to do you more harm than good? It's at high
speed agressive driving where you shouldn't bother wearing one. If you get in
an accident at high speed the injuries will be so severe that in this case it's
less likely that a seatbelt will matter (but it's still possible it will).
It would seem to me that at any speed, chances are the seatbelt will help.
