Subject: 1967 (Numbers Matching) Chevelle SS

I just returned from beach vacation. Prior to leaving
I talked with a mechanic friend of mine who is
replacing the leaking Q-Jet carb with an Edelbrock
Carb
(the subject of another Chevelle List question).

I tell the mechanic who is an honest man, that the
Chevelle SS can't be left outside. No problem he tells
me.

I arrive home today and the mechanic tells me that the
Edelbrock Carb with the one inch adapter does not have
enough clearance when hood is closed (see separate
list
question). OK, I call up Edelbrock and obtain tech
information. I write it down and bring it to shop to
leave with mechanic. The shop is closed, but:

The 1967 Chevelle SS, which has apparently gathered
attention from interested buyers (as told to me by the
mechanic), is sitting outside the closed shop. The bay
inside the shop is empty. The shop is located on a
busy intersection within easy view.

Now, have you read the stolen police alerts for
Chevelles ?

So, I bring another vehicle and block the Chevelle in.
I will speak to the mechanic tomorrow.I leave a note.
I have contacted another shop that specializes in
classic and collectable cars and keeps cars garaged or
locked up.

In short, if this was you what options would you
choose,re:

a. Pay the nice mechanic for any work he has already
done and move vehicle to another shop.

b. Allow the guy to correct the situation.

c. Not overreact as I appear to be ?

Let me know what you would do.

Concerned and annoyed Ken
