Subject: 1967 Chevelle SS with 396 engine & Edelbrock
Carb.
The Q-Jet on the 67 Chevelle SS is leaking bad.
Through
this list and others I ordered the Edelbrock Performer
Series Carb, # 1411, with Edelbrock 2697 Q-Jet Kit.
The Edelbrock 2697 Kit is a one inch adapter plate.
The 67 Chevelle SS has the original hi-rise intake
manifold.
The mechanic tells me that when you add the one inch
adapter plate kit (# 2697)and the Edelbrock Carb 1411,
there is no room to add chrome cleaner without hitting
the bottom of hood ?
I called Edelbrock tech line. They are surprised since
the Edelbrock 1411 is the same or near same height as
the Q-Jet, so your adding one inch with the adapter
plate. Not enough clearance height ? The chrome air
cleaner assembly is not the original air cleaner
assembly, so maybe you need a low profile air cleaner
assembly.
Anyone have this problem before with a 1967 Chevelle
SS
with hi rise manifold (note:the original manifold that
came with the engine)?
Another alternative is the Edelbrock 1901 Q-Jet Carb
which uses very small adapter.
Thoughts on this. Or is this the twilight zone again ?
Thanks,
Ken
