I know this might sound kind of stupid but you asked what we run on our cars
so here goes. Since my little wiring escapade (we won't even go there)
awhile back, my girlfriends Dad and I decided it would be a good idea to
replace the externally charged alternater with an internal. Since I like
the idea to keep things as simple as I possibly can I like to be able to
walk into my parts store (or any) and pick up the part I need and be done
with it without having to wait for UPS or whoever to take the time to drop
my parts off (I have this therory that if I break down in another state or
on the side of the road, I just might be able to fix it if I stay away from
"exotic" parts, parts that Auto Zone and Advance or some hick mechanic would
look at you like you were an idiot asking for something aftermarket that you
don't normally find say a 130 amp alternator) But anyway I put in a internal
alternator from an '81 Camaro, its only 65 amps but I figure it ought to
sufice for me because the only thing I have that causes so much as a power
drain would be my sterio (I have no power options, sometimes thats cool
other times it sucks) and when I get it hooked back up will drain about 400
watts when I have the 10s hooked up.... and I don't really use them very
often just when a good song is playing that just needs a little extra thump
of the bass. Not to mention they make good ballist for the rear :)
