kevin - welcome to the list. For "a new guy" you seem to have a good
handle on the things you want to fix. Your chevelle sounds like a lot
of others out here. Same problems, leaky back light, rusted trunk etc.
etc.
For starters I'd go after the safety items. Brakes, steering etc. After
30 years, I'm sure your front end needs a rebuild, and the brakes should
at least be checked. I'm doing a front end rebuild/disc brake upgrade
as we speak. 2 hours into it & I have everything to the control arms
removed and the old bushings & ball joints pressed out.
After that I'd add some of the creature comforts and upgrades. Be sure
to check the passenger compartment floor for rust thru. The front
windshield is prone to leak, wouldn't want you putting your foot thru :)
You can accomplish a lot in 2 or 3 day increments, the only thing I
see taking longer is paint and thats a long way down the road.
You found the list, so I assume that you came thru www.chevelles.com
On the front page on the left towards the bottom is an "Index of Years".
You should be able to find your paint codes there, or post your trim tag
info here & someone will help you out. Also visit the tech reference
section at chevelles.com - lottsa good stuff there. Finally (shameless
plug) visit http://links.chevelles.net/links plenty of good stuff there
too.
