My '69 appeared to have the original knobs on the cranks and they were the
translucent gold color. The knobs were riveted on from the rear, so there is
no way to get it back on. Replacement knobs are available in all of the
resto catalogs. I got mine at a local parts store. Not exactly a concours
part, but my Chevelle is not restored to stock. Mine actually screwed on
from the rear. Getting the crank off is the hard part. Watch out for the
retainer clip. If you have luck like mine, it will fly off and land between
the arm rest and rear seat cushion, requiring the rear seat to be removed.
(5 minute job turned into 45)
