Go to the store and buy the stock metal/paper gaskets for the manifolds. (I usually have a bunch just laying around.) While you're there, pick up a tube of that copper RTV stuff, the orange works fine too.
Proceed to lay about a 1/4 inch bead on one side of all the gaskets. Let skin over, then flip over and repeat on other side. Now your hands are tired and you have a bunch of really thick gaskets. Let em dry for about an hour, and put them on, torque them down, retorque in about 200 miles, then you're set for life. I've even reused them.

If it's a collector gasket, those aluminum ones work pretty well, they crush
and seal. I haven't had them leak on the chevelle or the cutlass yet. If
its the block to header gasket, i can't really say i think to highly of the
copper ones. I had them on the chevelle for a weekend and took em off.
Leaked like a sive. Paper ones went back on and haven't blown one yet in a
year. But we all know how some things work out well for others that don't
for you.
