Looking under the gauges from the center of the car. Grab hold of the cable back by the firewall with your right hand. Get a long thin screwdriver, and with the other hand, look up to the back of the cluster, and press in the pin. Gently pull on the cable at the same time. To re-install, do it the same way. Just guide the tip of the cable to the plate at the back of the speedo. The cable is stiff enough to snap it in. Forget about access from the top. My method takes 30 seconds to do after the 1st time.
