I did a little research regarding the torque ratings for manual transmissions.  Apparently, the torque rating is based on a "static" test, meaning torque is applied to a non-spinning transmission to determine how much it can take before something breaks.  Naturally that breakage point will be higher than the ratings that are published.   If I remember correctly, the Richmond 6 is rated at 450lbs.  According to Dyno 2000, my 454 makes 480lbs+ throughout its RPM range.  Since I only have 10" wide wheels with 285 size tires, I doubt I'll ever get enough traction to worry about the torque capacity of the tranny.   Besides, most Muncie's are rated around 200-250lbs and they've survived behind lots of big blocks over the years. cYa-   Herb Lumpp 1966 El Camino ACES #3509 http://web.tampabay.rr.com/herbsworld/index.htm
