Title: Heater fuse...
Well Jason, your right about electrical problem solving in an e-mail. Without looking at the wiring it is difficult. But some things you should look for first to try and solve this are;
1. Do you have the right size fuse? It's not too hard to grab the wrong amp fuse mistakenly.

2. Do you have some other peice of equipment (electrical) wired to this circuit? You may be drawing too many amps for the fuse to handle. If you do, try to find another circuit or step up to a larger fuse. Just be careful you don't over do it. Go up 2 amps the first time and 1 amp each time after. This is not the best solution. The wiring in your car was designed to carry only so much voltage.  Finding a free circuit is the best. Nothing worse than a dash meltdown.

3. Look for a frayed wire touching somewhere. If the wire is red, it's HOT. If it's blue, pink or yellow it's hot when you turn the ignition on or the heater switch. A frayed wire could be in your harness and you wouldn't know. It may have gotten hot at one time and melted the cover. Look for a hole in the harness tape that looks like it may have melted.

4. You may have leaves or other debris in the heater motor housing causing the motor to drag when you turn it on.

5. The motor may be tired and on it's last leg. ( Not likely, this shouldn't blow the fuse unless the lube is gone and it's not spinning freely )

6. The switch may be going...... and finally, if all else fails,

7. Wear a heavy coat and scarf and wait till SPRING.  :o)
Just kidding, hope this helps you out. Other than these tips, I can't think of anything else to look for. Maybe one of the other members can.

Subject: [Chevelle-List] Heater fuse...

    I know that electrical problems are hard to find.  They're even harder to find through email.  But I was hoping maybe someone has had a similar problem.

    With the weather getting colder I've started to use my heater.  To my amazement, after I replaced a fuse, the heater worked great.  The next day I started the car and turned the heater on and the fuse was blown again!

    Other then this, the cars electrical system has no problems.

    Any help?
