I live in Texas too (Austin)... I couldn't find one to save my life. So I had to go to Oklahoma to get the one I've got.
And take my advice, before you drive 400 miles to buy a car. Pay a third party to look at it before you make the trip.
I missed getting a '79 SS with 60k for $4000 in OK city last year for the wife.....it was a looker, but Bethany "Motorcars" beat me to it...can't believe the relisted thew car for sale the same day for $8995.00. Then I found out the car wasn't a real SS and that they fake 'em all the time. Had a buddy go look at it and he confirmed that the car wasn't what the guy had said it was and had at least 160k on the clock....you are very right about that....check 'em out good!!!
