Nick,
keep in mind that I am on a budget with the engine since I have so much of the rest of the car to work on as well. Horsepower will have to take a back seat to more economical considerations. If I were to put a small blower into the picture I would need to know things like:

1. How much would a small blower cost to purchase?

2. Will it help gas mileage enough to eventually pay for itself?

3. How much will it effect reliablility and longevity?

Basicall I guess I am asking, would the reasons you suggest one be only for horsepower or are there other advantages? Would there be any disadvantages?

Also, what about the hood? Would I need to modify or go to a cowl hood for clearance?

Just out of curiosity, how high can I go on a big block with a high rise manifold before I run into hood problems with a flat hood?

Have ya considered one of the mini Weiand blowers (underhood) on a stock \ low buck setup?

Hi Larry,
Yeah that's as far on the other end of where I want to go. I have just started on the car and it's in moderately bad shape. Will need to be spending money on many parts. Will have to make the engine low power and economical for now.  Hope you enjoy yours :)

Coming from the other end I just spent $6800.00 have a 454 built as a street drivable torque monster. Aluminum heads, roller cam and rockers, Keith Black pistons, and steel crank. This does not include starter, water pump, distributor, carb or installing it. so as you can see it just depends on how far you want to take it.
